The Best of The Barrel
Made in limited quantities our prestige wines are hand-selected by our head winemaker Rob MacCulloch, where after rigorous taste tests, he chooses only the top six barrels of each, those which contain the most flavourful and high-quality juice. For our Kings Rosé, 1% of Pinot Noir Précoce, red juice is added to the blend to enhance the wine’s body and flavour and to give it its distinctive ethereal pink colour. Once bottled the wine spends over 6 years ageing on its lees, giving the blend further complexity and a wonderfully developed body and texture. 2015 Vintage: Cool But Controlled
The 2015 growing season was a test of good site selection and our vineyard team did a wonderful job in challenging conditions, the summer was cooler than the previous year, particularly in August which is a crucial month for ripening our grapes. Fortunately, towards the end of the month, the sun did show its face, and by harvest, we were yielding super-ripe Pinots with wonderful flavours, good acidity and deep colours, and good vineyard sites produced some very fine Chardonnay as well.
