Current Vacancies at Hattingley Valley

Hattingley Valley has been producing award-winning sparkling wine since 2010, planting its first vineyard in 2008. The heart of the wine comes from our 8.2 hectares of vineyards here in Hampshire where we carefully manage two distinct vineyard sites. Growing the classic sparkling varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, we also have small parcels of Bacchus and Pinot Gris. In addition to this we source grapes from across the UK for both our own production and on behalf of our contract winemaking clients. Hattingley Valley has won over 180 coveted industry awards since our first vintage in 2013.

The business has grown exponentially since its inception, and we are now one of the largest wineries in the UK, as well as being the most significant exporter of English wine to the rest of the world.

Please see our current vacancies below.

Harvest 2025 Cellarhand

Role Description

Hattingley Valley is now recruiting Cellar Staff for the 2025 harvest, which usually runs from the end of September until the end of October.

During harvest, work consists of forklifting, press loading, crate washing, racking, chaptalizing, yeast and malolactic inoculating, fermentation monitoring, barrel cleaning/filling, tank cleaning, drain cleaning, and scrubbing – all of which is standard winery harvest work.

During harvest, you will take part in some or all those tasks, often on the same day, as well as spending some limited time helping with disgorging and labelling work. The workload is consequently varied and never-ending, and we are seeking people to take on this harvest work with enthusiasm and a proactive attitude for all of it.

As a winery during harvest, we always try to expand the limits of our knowledge and increase wine quality for ourselves and for our clients. If you would like to come and help push those winemaking boundaries further, please get in touch.

Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • In possession of a work Visa / right to work in the UK.
  • Those with previous harvest experience and a good reference to prove it.
  • Forklift experience, with a licence / certification.
  • A willingness to learn from us, as well as using your own knowledge, pragmatism, and experience.
  • An enthusiastic can-do attitude, with real ability to work in a team.
  • A valid UK driving license is an essential requirement due to our rural location.

Please note that we are unable to sponsor work visa applications.

To apply, applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. This realistically restricts our employment to UK Citizens or Residents, Irish Citizens, EU Citizens with settled or pre-settled status, and those with a Youth Mobility Scheme visa from certain countries. This list is neither definitive nor exhaustive and it will be up to applicants to prove they already have one of these visa types, or confirm they are undertaking a UK work visa application process in time to meet harvest employment periods.

Please note that we may not reply to applications where visa status is unclear.

We are in the depths of rural Hampshire, yet only an hour from London. If needed, we will find local accommodation for you in advance and we will also help with a contribution towards the cost. Where possible, we will also provide transport or car sharing. During harvest shifts, we always provide hot food and snacks.

In addition, each staff member receives a wine allowance and staff discount for further wine purchases.
