Chardonnay and oak go together like port and cheese, delicious but you can have too much of a good thing! We are known for the subtle use of oak barrels in our sparkling wines and we have translated that to this Reserve version of our Still White. 100% of this wine was aged for 6 months in older barrels and the oak brings a touch of creaminess to the palate, without dominating, whilst the wine retains its vibrant freshness. 2020 was a fantastically ripe vintage and showed us the potential for making wines like this in England when the weather is on our side.

With a pale gold colour, this Chardonnay has pronounced aromas of ripe orchard fruit that follow through to the palate, and a creamy oak texture perfectly balanced with its natural bright acidity, giving a fine and rich mouthfeel with a long dry finish.

Food Pairing

The buttery texture of camembert is lovely with the creamy, soft texture of chardonnay which cuts through the rich creaminess of the cheese due to the acidity.

Crisp summer in glass

I didn’t quite expect the slightly unusual flavour. On first taste I might have given it the thumbs down. However, sitting outside on a lovely evening with fish for dinner it changed my mind. A crisp fresh acidity that lingers but with a dry finish. The second bottle proves it was worth the effort!
