Having experienced this wonderful sparkling wine on a BA flight, I often choose it as a refreshing alternative to the champagnes on offer in the Lounge or on the flight. It’s has a full flavour which is also soft; a light indulgence. At home it is always enjoyed by friends too.

This is an excellent bottle of English sparkling wine. By far the best out of Hattingley range.

To split hairs, this might not strictly be a “blanc de noirs” as it has about 2% Chardonnay in the blend. That said, as per the title, it is really jolly good. I have tried, and thoroughly enjoyed, some 100% Pinot Meunier champagnes from small growers in France, which would, at the moment be my preference, however this sparkling blanc de noirs is right up there with them. I suspect that as our climate in the UK improves, and we get more sunshine to ripen the darker grape varieties, this wine will have even better raw material from which to be produced, and will become a seriously good sparkling wine. Already it has a lovely smoothness and subtlety in flavour that really appeals. It makes a very enjoyable alternative to a more zesty, crisp blanc de blanc.

My first experience of this wonderful wine on a flight back from Dubai. It has a distinctive personality which I enjoyed very much compared with the champagne available. Well done to Hattingley Valley and British airways for showcasing this sparkling wine. I will certainly be buying. It is certainly great to see that English Wines can be so good.
