Still Collection Case

£139

2020 was a pretty awful year as we all know, however, the weather for our harvest was the best we have ever had. Following on the success and popularity of the Still Rose in 2019, our first ever, we said that we would like to make more still white wine if and when the grapes could achieve excellent natural ripeness.

During the hot summer of the lockdown, we identified a parcel of Pinot Noir from one of our long term growers in Kent and carried out some additional work in the vineyard to ensure maximum ripeness of the fruit. The grapes came in super ripe and we decided that this was the year to make a red wine to add to our range.

We launched our first Still White back in March but held a portion of the wine in oak barrels for 6 months to bring a touch of creaminess to the palate, without dominating, whilst the wine retains its vibrant freshness. We have released this as our Reserve Still White 2020.

STILL White 2020 - £19.50

YEAR - 2020
GRAPE - Chardonnay 100%
ALCOHOL (ABV) - 12%

Pale lemon colour with soft green hue, this Chardonnay has wonderfully pronounced citrus, blossom and grapefruit aromas, with a hint of honey and pear. The palate is clean and fresh, with a mouthful of green apple flavours, and a creamy texture that is nicely balanced with its natural vibrant bright acidity. A fine and rich mouthfeel, with a long dry finish.

Reserve STILL White 2020 - £25

YEAR - 2020
GRAPE - Chardonnay 100%
ALCOHOL (ABV) - 12%

With a light pale gold colour, this Chardonnay has pronounced aromas of ripe orchard fruit that follow through to the palate, and a creamy oak texture perfectly balanced with its natural bright acidity, giving a fine and rich mouthfeel with a long dry finish.

STILL Pinot Noir 2020 - £25

YEAR - 2020
GRAPE - Pinot Noir 100%

A delicate red wine bursting with aromas and flavours of red cherries and smoky notes, accented by hints of dark chocolate. The fine tannins and balanced acidity provide an elegant structure and silky finish.

Summer stillness.

Two delicious still wines. The Rosé has a gentle nose of soft fruit followed by a slightly acidic red fruit strawberry then raspberry taste. A soft length just asking for another sip. Absolutely five star.
Still waiting for a good reason to open the Chardonnay, it won’t be long.

Excellent wines

Being big fans of Hattingley Sparkling for some time, we were keen to try the still wines and were not disappointed. Both lived up to the descriptions on the website. The Rose had more body than is often found, allowing for greater complexity and length on the finish, with strawberry notes giving way to redcurrant, The Chardonnay was classically clean, crisp and dry (but not bone dry) with green apple resolving into lemon and grapefruit on the finish. Great stuff!

An excellent start, quite an achievement.
Both fresh and good summer drinking. The rose with a strong strawberry bouquet. Drank them as a tasting with friends and with a Westwells (Kent) Ortega, our local vineyard.
Pricey, more complex wines available from France and Italy at this price.

My first bottle of an English rose. Very good and surprisingly similar to very nice rose from the Provence.
