Despite starting off the growing season with exceptionally cold weather for April and May, we experienced gloriously hot weather in July which brought on successful flowering and a very healthy fruit set. These favourable conditions allowed the fruit to fly through veraison and ripen nicely, achieving good sugar levels. Harvest started on 2nd October and ended on 5th November.

‘Possibly the most challenging vintage we have ever seen, the resulting wines, including this BdB are a testament to patience and focus on quality – finely balanced wine with a nervous energy’
Emma Rice
Head Winemaker

The Chardonnay grapes were handpicked and gently whole-bunch pressed. The juice was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with a small proportion (7%) barrel-fermented in old oak barrels. A full malolactic fermentation was carried out for this vintage to give roundness to balance the crisp acidity. Four years ageing on its lees in bottle adds a wonderful complexity and depth to this wine, before being disgorged with 6g/L dosage and a minimum of five months on cork before release.

Tasting Notes

Pale golden colour with gentle green hues and delicate bubbles, this Blanc de Blancs displays beautifully the pure linear character of the Chardonnay - white stone fruit, citrus fruit and a delicious honeyed character on the nose; clean and mineral flavours with pastry and brioche notes on the palate. It has a well balanced and refreshing acidity that gives way to a creamy mouthfeel and long, complex finish.

Or birthday's, or anniversaries or finally sorting out the messy drawer? Thanks Michael, glad you like it

Blanc de Blancs

Absolutely delicious - and an amazing colour!

Hattingley Heaven

A wonderful experience with a smooth finish - at present my go to fizz from the rack!

Substantial scope for development

I have given this wine three stars, as I believe it is really only showing some elements of what may well become a superb blanc de blancs in maturity. It's delicious now, especially if you can give it plenty of air before serving, but I'm very optimistic about the future.
